Which brings me to the (in my opinion) popsicle bible: Perfect Pops: The 50 Best Classic & Cool Treats. I first came across this book at my brother and sister-in-law's house in Pittsburgh. We babysit their adorable 2-year-old, Eloise. Popsicles was on the list of possible activities my sister-in-law, Meghan, suggested. I made a batch and became addicted. Later I asked, "Should we make some more popsicles? You know, for everyone else." I'm a giver.
This is an amazingly easy snack, if you are up for waiting a few hours to actually eat it.
The pops I made tonight: Sangria Pops - probably not for a child's birthday party, but make a great front porch summer snack or cookout treat.
You can get popsicle molds from Amazon. If you plan on making these for a party, you may want to invest in more than just one set.
The recipe for these is simple. And I'm not joking, 4 ingredients: red wine, orange juice, lemon juice, and sugar. With the wine, feel free to get the cheap stuff, it won't make a difference. You can use the bottle you opened the night before and thought, "Eh, this isn't that good."
Mix the four ingredients together and pour into the popsicle molds.

When the molds are full, place on the tops (if you have a stainless steel set, you may need to get wooden sticks), and place in the freezer. Make sure you have room in the freezer before you carry them over, so you don't spill them all over the place trying to shuffle things around. Not that I've ever done that (you live and you learn). Find a sunny front porch and a few friends, or yourself and a good book, and enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 1/3 cup red wine1 cup orange juice1 tablespoon lemon juice1/4 cup sugar
Preparation:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the wine, orange juice, sugar, and lemon juice until the sugar is dissolved.
Pour the sangria and insert sticks. Freeze until firm, 8 hours or up to one week.
To unmold the pops, run hot water over the outsides of the molds for a few seconds, then gently pull out the sticks.
Option: Place thin, peeled orange slices in each mold before pulling the sangria mix.
